THE AUTHENTIC ANDALUSIA

The Costa del Sol is the name given to the Mediterranean Coast in Southern Spain between Sotogrande in the West and Nerja in the East. The Costa del Sol forms the southern stretch of the region of Andalusia, the city of Sevilla is its capital.

The Costa del Sol has for long attracted both foreign residents and tourists to its shores. The coast offers over 320 sunny days a year with an average temperature of 18,7° C and an impressive collection of more than 50 golf courses. These are just some of many reasons why the area attracts several million visitors every year.

The Costa del Sol is a perfect location for families, who can enjoy fun in the sun, many adventure parks, outdoor activities, beaches and water sports. Also, the area offers a great choice of international schools, entertainment, sports activities and fantastic gastronomy, accompanied by wonderful scenery and romantic sunsets.  In the summer, the beaches along the Mediterranean are very popular and eating tapas at the many Chiringuitos is not to be missed.

Within a couple of hours drive from the Marbella area, there are some great locations that can be easily visited. Among the most popular day trips are Seville, Antequera, Gibraltar, Tangier (Morocco), Ronda, Malaga, Granada, and the splendid Alhambra Palace, Cadiz and many more. 

MARBELLA

If you are looking for a unique atmosphere with sunshine all year Marbella is the place to be. The area has everything to offer when it comes to sophisticated living. Sunshine, magnificent beaches, fine dining, a selection of the world’s best designer shops, some of the finest golf courses in the world all gathered in one place, a sizzling nightlife, good infrastructure and high security are just a few of the things Marbella has to offer.

It’s safe to say Marbella has something of interest to offer everyone. Rich in culture dating century’s back and with perhaps Europe’s best climate it’s no wonder so many people want to acquire their own piece of this “paradise on earth”. With 320 sunny days a year and more than 25 km of splendid coastline, it’s easy to grow fond of this place. If that isn’t enough skiing at Sierra Nevada is just a 2 hour drive away and with a short distance to Malaga airport, you can reach most European cities within 2-3 hours. While it has become a centre of commerce, the city still charms with its Old Town. Centuries-old, with narrow alleys leading to modern shops, a Moorish castle and a 16th century Town Hall, it is almost an understatement to say the atmosphere here is truly unique.

With a vast property development going on since the early 1960’s a whole range of property exists in this area. Here you can find anything from exquisite mansions to charming townhouses and first line beach apartments. With the luxurious Golden Mile topping the list of elegant addresses of Marbella. Here you can also find exclusive and well-established urbanizations such as the prestigious Sierra Blanca, Puente Romano, Cascada de Camoján, Nagüeles, Marbella Club and Marbella Hill Club. MARBELLA EAST

Marbella East consists of the following areas: Los Monteros, El Rosario, Elviria, Hacienda Las Chapas, Cabopino, Calahonda, Fuengirola and Benalmádena.

Slightly different from Central Marbella, this beautiful area is surrounded by incredible pine and oak woods providing a true sense of tranquillity. Stunning beaches locally renowned for their lovely, white sand dunes are also found along the coastline of this area. In a somewhat less developed stretch of the coast, luxury hotels and magnificent golf courses are found all the way eastward from the centre of Marbella towards Calahonda, Mijas, Fuengirola and Benalmádena.

In the desirable areas of Hacienda Las Chapas, Los Monteros and Elviria, elegant villas and beachside hotels are the norm. In East Marbella, year-round local residents rub elbows with tourists. While it still benefits from first-class medical facilities, top-notch schools and excellent shopping complexes, this is a quieter approach to the sophisticated Marbella life, ideal for families.

PUERTO BANÚS

The world famous Puerto Banús in Marbella is best known for its splendid marina packed with magnificent yachts and the very best of luxury brand stores. It was built in the 70´s by local property developer José Banús as a luxury marina and shopping complex. This place is considered a piece of Paradise for jet-setters and shopaholics as you can find all the most fashionable shops offering a variety of the finest brands and designer goods. The marina has berths for 915 yachts including those of the King of Saudi Arabia.

For those who are more into discounts and reasonable prices, every Saturday there is a flea market close to the Bullring, where bargain hunters from all over the coast flock for real opportunities.

The port is alive both day and night and will surprise first-time visitors by its variety of cafés, restaurants, bars & nightclubs. During the day you can sit in a café or restaurant in the port admiring the luxury yachts and cars on display, spend time on the superb beach or do some shopping. In the evening you can enjoy a delightful dinner in one of the restaurants located by or near the marina or dance until early morning hours in the many bars and nightclubs in the area providing an extremely vibrant nightlife.

Built about 40 years ago the stylish apartments are reflected on the Mediterranean in the foreground, and the majestic La Concha Mountain highlights the background, this is truly a perfect postcard Spanish destination.

NUEVA ANDALUCIA

Extending from the world famous Puerto Banús to the base of the neighbouring foothills, Nueva Andalucia is often referred to as the ‘Golf Valley’ because of its 5 Golf Courses; Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, Aloha, La Dama de Noche & La Quinta. This is a highly thought after and prominent residential area of Marbella providing a clean and secure environment. This ever-expanding community attracts people with a variety of nationalities and benefits academically from the prestigious, multilingual Aloha College.

The residences here range from quaint hillside villas and modern golf apartments, to elaborate mansions and luxurious apartment complexes with breathtaking views towards the Mediterranean Sea, Gibraltar and the Moroccan coast on the horizon. The area offers several stores and nearby restaurants and is situated only a few minutes drive away from Puerto Banús and San Pedro making this an ideal address. 

With a prime location prices here have held up better than in other areas which makes buying here a safe investment. Proving to be one of the most popular areas it also lends itself to rental investment with a high demand for holiday lets.

Marbella West

Marbella West consists of the following areas: San Pedro de Alcántara, Guadalmina Baja, Guadalmina Alta, Atalaya Park, Canselada and Benamara.

Marbella West is the area that stretches from San Pedro de Alcántara towards Estepona, in recent years commonly known as The New Golden Mile. This area offers a large number of communities consisting of good hotels, affordable apartments and townhouses. However, in the Guadalmina area, you can also find some of the grandest and most sought after luxury villas and frontline beach developments of relatively new construction.

The town of San Pedro is also located in this area which is probably the most typical Spanish town on the entire Costa del Sol. Its city centre has a lot of restaurants, small shops, quiet green parks, squares and beautiful gardens. 

BENAHAVÍS

The municipality of Benahavís is a Spanish mountainside village with narrow, picturesque streets and houses full of character surrounded by lush greenery and stunning scenery. Located right next to Marbella just a 20-minute drive, this beautiful area covers more than 145 km2 and rivals Marbella itself as a living and touring destination of international standing. Benahavís is well connected to Málaga airport which can be reached in about 1 hour. A variety of golf courses, beautiful hiking trails, public swimming pools and tennis courts puts Benahavís on the map as a great address to consider for both vacationers and permanent residents.

Nestled in the foothills of Benahavís is the prestigious community of La Zagaleta. With its coveted luxurious villas and extravagant Country Club, it contributes considerably to Benahavis’ status as the richest municipality per capita in all of Andalucia. La Zagaleta is considered Europe’s most exclusive and luxurious private resort and one of the most exclusive addresses in the world.

Benahavís was founded way back in the 11th century by the Arabs who invaded Spain. The city’s unique location with stunning, panoramic views overlooking much of the coast, a clear view to Gibraltar, the Mediterranean Sea and across to Africa, was crucial at a time when looking out for foreign conquerors. 

If you are searching for a property with unobstructed panoramic views in an area defined by complete tranquillity and peace, Benahavís and its surrounding areas may be just the right place for you.

ESTEPONA

A short 15 minute drive from the busy city centre of Puerto Banús lies the old town of Estepona. Estepona is known for its stunning beaches, which stretch along the entire 21 km coastline and offers a unique option as an address. Because of its unique geographical situation, surrounded by sea and mountains, Estepona has a microclimate with more than 325 days of sunshine a year, making it an attractive destination all year round. The city centre preserves the charm of Old Spain, while master-planned, chic developments expand out of its east and west flanks.

Seafarers will soon appreciate the modern marina and its welcoming environment and its proximity to both the Port of La Duquesa and Puerto Banus, just West and East respectively. With a selection of good tapas bars, restaurants and a charming old town with lots of shops this town has much to offer to everyone. The port of Estepona is a working fishing harbour where daily auctions take place, of a wide variety of seafood. Every Sunday the harbour is also home to Estepona’s flea market.

Just over 20 minutes from the city centre you can find Selwo Safari Park, designed like an African safari park it is home to 2 000 wild animals roaming free in a natural, yet controlled, habitat. 

The city’s congress centre is the venue for most of the areas organized events including product presentations, trade fairs, commercial exhibitions, concerts and much more. It’s safe to say you will not be bored in this urban society considered as a family friendly area.

The very best in accommodation will be found at the luxury five-star resorts of Las Dunas and the magnificent Kempinski Resort Hotel. Vacationers coming here have many options. A variety of fine dining, a sparkling nightlife and horse riding are just some of Estepona’s many attractions.  

For golf enthusiasts there are many great golf courses around Estepona including Estepona Golf, Valle Romano Golf Club, La Resina Golf & Country Club, El Paraíso Golf Club,La Duquesa Golf & Country Club,Dona Julia Resort and Finca Cortesin which was the organizer of the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2009, 2010 & 2012.

SOTOGRANDE

Situated just 30 minutes from Marbella, and only 20 minutes from Gibraltar and its airport, Sotogrande enjoys quiet comfort at its finest. The location offers contrasting views of the Mediterranean Sea, natural hills, luxuriant woods and green fairways, as well as the great Rock of Gibraltar and the Moroccan coast on the horizon.

Sotogrande has 5 fine golf courses including the world-renowned Valderrama Golf Club, Real Club de Golf, Almenara, La Reserva and La Cañada. In addition to these, there are 6 Polo grounds, numerous tennis and paddle tennis clubs and a rugby club. This area also features several beach clubs, a sailing club and several riding stables.

The area is well recognized for its splendid marina and canal system which has berths for hundreds of luxury yachts surrounded by premium 1st line real estate. With its luxurious and tranquil atmosphere, this is the ideal place to rest and enjoy good food as you can find a selection of excellent restaurants, cafes and bars in this area.

Sporting opportunities also abound here. With several polo grounds, the stylish marina, and excellent windsurfing conditions at Tarifa which is nearby, all this beckon any sports enthusiast. Close by you can find the quaint towns of Vejer, Jimena de la Frontera, Casares, Gaucin, Ronda and the great rock of Gibraltar – all begging to be explored.
